Shakopee is famously known for the Valleyfair amusement park for the family and the landing. The landing is a historical village that is a wonder to behold on the Minnesota River. This small village has been in existence since the 18th century and holds a lot of history about the budded city. The Canterbury racetrack fused with the Card club and is the home of horseracing in the city. One of the most exciting events in Shakopee is the Minnesota Renaissance festival, which pulls in crowds from all over the wolrd. You can also try your luck at the Mystic lake casino located at the Indian reservation in Shakopee.

Mankato, on the other hand, holds a number of things to see and do and is a great place to set camp.  You can take walks on the Red jacket trail or go biking through a peaceful atmosphere on one of the most beautiful trails. The Mineopa State park is a nice place to visit with a beautiful waterfall for your relaxing needs while in Mankato. The children's museum, WOW zone family entertainment centre, the Sibley park zoo, the Mankato Symphony and Twin river Arts are places and events that you will want to see and get involved with in the city.
